A Shining Light Across America
The celebration of the BSA Centennial will reach a new high on 31 July with the broadcast of A Shining Light Across America from the BSA National Scout Jamboree. For the first time, this show will be broadcast via satalite (GLC will be hosting a live viewing at Lamphere High School in Madison Heights) and over the Internet.

Sporting Clays Invitational
On Tuesday, September 21 the Detroit Gun Club will be the site of this year's "Shooting Stars" Sporting Clays Invitational. Online registration is open and more information is available.

Forward Down The Field!
It is almost time for football season, and this year GLC is teaming up with the Detroit Lions. Come to Ford Field on Sunday, December 12, 2010
and cheer on the Detroit Lions against the Green Bay Packers!
Tickets are $35, and
$15 of each ticket goes to support Scouting
in the Great Lakes Council.

Building Connections Scheduled for 23 September
The annual Building Connections event is the largest annual gathering of the construction community in southeast Michigan. The event provides an unique opportunity for informal business and social interaction while supporting the Scouting program.

Inventing Merit Badge Introduced
Last week in Cambridge, MA the Boy Scouts of America, in partnership with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), formally launched the Inventing Merit Badge.This new, exciting merit badge is now available for all Scouts to earn. Requirements are available HERE.
As part of the development and pre-testing of the Inventing merit badge, thirty-eight Scouts from six Boston area councils completed the merit badge requirements and were awarded their badges. Additionally two patent-holding Distinguished Eagles with connections to MIT were presented commemorative merit badges for their past inventive activities and ongoing support of Scouting.
GLC Archery League
Online registrations for the GLC Cub Scout Archery League are now open. Registration is limited to 20 for each of the three shooting times, so do not delay.
